Green Eco School

Time passes quickly, several busy meetings are behind us, during which, among other things, we gathered in one place our ideas for taking actions that are conducive to the environment.

During one of our group's meetings, we made an ecological analysis of our school.
The beginning of the class was dedicated to designing bags that we will sew from old materials.
Then we divided the whole group into three teams, each of them had a specific task to perform.
The first team took pictures of ecological activities, the second team conducted an interview,
and the third team started creating our blog. Are you curious what we came up with?

The first group made us a photo report, which shows that in our school we have bins
for waste segregation, a composter, an ecological garden. But it is not everything.
Mrs. Małgosia Baszczak (our physics teacher) makes various things with her students from garbage,
e.g. pouffes to sit on from plastic bottles, a table to play, e.g.
chess, cardboard from a 3D printer and remnants of wallpaper.

The advantage of our school is its location in the Saxon Garden founded at the turn of the 17th and 18th by King August II the Strong, on the so-called Saxon Axis, as a palace garden next to the French-style Saxon Palace. It has long been known for its urban greenery:

- the park absorbs air pollution and unpleasant odors

- it cools and humidifies the air by evaporation

- it lowers the temperature on hot days

- it reduces the noise level - isolates from the hustle and bustle of the city

The second group conducted a survey - an interview among the school community. What did we ask?
1. Do you think our school is ecological?
Argument:
yes - why?
not - why?
The votes: Students need to be more eco-friendly, e.g. save water, segregate waste.
There are only baskets, but no one uses them.
We believe we need more waste segregation, light consumption. There are new textbooks
every year - that's a waste of paper.
There are no solar panels. Not everyone segregates waste, despite additional bins
for segregation.
2. What ca we do to improve our school, to make more ecological?
- segregate the waste, care for the environment;
- use motion sensors to turn on the lights in our school
- solar panels, waste segregation, making others aware of the need for waste segregation
 3. Do you think the project "Grenn Eco School" is a good idea?
- Yes, all our students have answered

Conclusions:

- although we have segregation bins at school, not everyone segregates
- we should work on it. Another task for us!
- the creation of our group by Mrs Magda Kapelewska encouraged and mobilized many people to
various ecological activities, e.g.
Mrs. Małgosia Baszczak and Mrs. Małgosia Michalec decided to do an action,
thanks to which we will buy a bicycle that produces electricity for our school's purposes.
The bike is stationary, you need to pedal, and thanks to this we will be able to charge,
for example, a phone, and in the meantime do sports - we will post photos.
To have funds for the bike, we have created lottery tickets and draw prizes.
Among the prizes are goods which we gave a second life (these are undamaged items
brought by students and various teachers).
Students also collect banana peels for an experiment. The idea is to create
a drink from the skins and water for our plants and check which of them
grows faster (natural fertilizers).
